Summer Soundtracks

I've been listening to so many soundtrack playlists recently so I thought I'd share a couple to continue that Summer mood. If you can't already tell I've been in a very 80s and kinda girly mood recently so if you're after any new music you're in the wrong place (for now).

Late 90s, early 00s goodness.
Favourite tracks:
I Want You To Want Me - Letters To Cleo
Wings Of A Dove - Madness
Cruel To Be Kind - Letters To Cleo
Calypso - Spiderbait

Where it all started this Summer. I grew up listening to 80s music and watching all the movies so when I first watched GLOW I absolutely loved it. It's cheesy, has excellent costumes, pokes fun at stereotypes and has the best all rounder 80s soundtrack. I've been listening to it on repeat since catching up on the latest Season 2. I'd also recommend checking out the documentary about the real Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling which is also on Netflix. As this is such a big playlist there's definitely tonnes of crossovers from other tv shows and movies but such a good well-rounded one I figured I'd keep it all together.
(Some) Favourite Tracks:
I Know What Boys Like - The Waitresses
Crazy For You - Madonna (I've had this on repeat for the entire Summer, soz Dave)
Nothings Going to Stop Us Now - Starship
Separate Ways - Journey
The Warrior - Scandal (!!)
Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler
Bright Lights - The Outlets
Just Like Honey - The Jesus and Mary Chain
September - Earth, Wind & Fire
Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper
Movin' Out (Anthony's Song) - Billy Joel
I Ran - A Flock of Seagulls (so flippin' good man)
What I Like About You - The Romantics (reminds me of the Lillix cover on Freaky Friday)
Life In A Northern Town - The Dream Academy
Free Fallin' - Tom Petty
Here I Go Again - Whitesnake
Girls, Girls, Girls - Motley Crue
Come on Eileen - Dexys Midnight Runners (now just reminds me of dancing to the music video in my living room when I was little, haha)
Don't You (Forget About Me) - Simple Minds (The Breakfast Club, duh)
Rebel Yell - Billy Idol
Brass in Pocket - Pretenders
She Drives Me Crazy - Fine Young Cannibals
If I Could Turn Back Time - Cher
Funky Town - Lipps Inc.
Black Velvet - Alannah Myles
West End Girls - Pet Shop Boys
Car Wash - Rose Royce
Head Over Heels - Tears For Fears

Easily one of my favourite films and I dunno what it is but whenever I hear Hans Zimmer's You're So Cool it just makes me so happy, it's such a lush piece of music.
Favourite Tracks:
You're So Cool - Hans Zimmer
Wounded Bird - Charles & Eddie

An on-the-road movie with mostly country music, excellent.
Favourite Track:
Thunderbird - Hans Zimmer (I had to!)

How could you not love a car chase movie cut to music?!
Favourite Tracks:
B-A-B-Y - Carla Thomas
Unsquare Dance - The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Easy - Commodores (& the Sky Ferreira version)
Nowhere To Run - Martha Reeves & The Vandellas
Every Little Bit Hurts - Brenda Holloway
Hocus Pocus - Focus

Canny cheesy but the styling in this movie is excellent and the fact that I'm forever obsessed with Madonna, I can't help but love it.
Favourite Tracks:
Into The Groove - Madonna
It's In His Kiss (The Shoop Shoop Song) - Betty Everett
One Fine Day - The Chiffons
Lust For Life - Iggy Pop (will only ever remind me of Trainspotting now though)
Respect - Aretha Franklin

When I watched it as a teen this movie introduced me to Otis Redding and I am for forever grateful. Plus, there's some canny New Order and Echo & The Bunnymen tracks.
Favourite Tracks:
Try A Little Tenderness - Otis Redding (!!!!!!!)
Pretty In Pink - The Psychedelic Furs
Bring On The Dancing Horses - Echo & The Bunnymen
How could I not include this?! It was on TV again recently and I still can't get some of the songs out of my head.
Favourite Tracks:
All of them.
Seriously though, such an excellent soundtrack.

What's been your favourite song or album this Summer?

Also let me know if you enjoy this kinda post because I'd love

My Go-To CF Summer Makeup

IT Cosmetics CC+ in Light
Easily one of my favourite foundations, although they could definitely do with improving their shades. My go-to since October, however, it's only been these summer months that the shade Light has actually matched my tanned skin. Definitely way too warm for a 'light' shade and I usually mix it with an even lighter shade when I am back to being pale again. I absolutely love the formula and finish of this though which is why I have made do with the shade I currently have. Check out my previous review for more info over here.

MILK Makeup concealer in Fair
Another favourite I've been using religiously since purchasing and I can't wait to buy another as I absolutely love the amount of coverage this has for a concealer. Not heavy at all but works perfectly on my darker under eyes and it lasts really well on the skin without creasing.

Anastasia Beverley Hills Stick Foundation in Fawn
I don't know how I've gone so long without a cream contour. They create such a lovely natural finish and I tend to swipe my Real Techniques Sculpting Brush over the product and then apply it. I'd find that apply the contour stick directly onto the face would often create a harsher line, even with blending it out.

Soap & Glory Archery Gel in Blonde Luck

Soap & Glory Brow Archery 2-in1 in Love is Blonde

Two super reliable drugstore brow products! What more do you need?!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette. Shades used; Buon Fresco and Verma
Buon Fresco is my go-to all day everyday, absolutely love that muted lilac colour and these shadows are amazing! I really wanna get my hands on the Norvina palette next.

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara
Another go-to and you can read more about my thoughts on it over here.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette. Shades used; Dim Light, Iridescent Light, Diffused Light

Soap & Glory Blush Brick in Sundaze
My favourite post-holiday product to keep you nice and bronzed. I basically just apply this all over, haha, it's luuuushh.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Amazing Grace
A gorgeous long lasting rosey coral.

Now it would be lovely if the sunshine would hang around a bit longer as I am throughly enjoying all of the highlighter and bronzey looks.

What's been your favourite make up products this summer?

Day 1: Lake District - Dock Tarn

Tuesday 19th June, 2018

Super excited, we set the tent up immediately and with starving bellies we decided to dive straight into the cooler and get out the pease pudding and veggie ham stotties. Yes! What a treat.

Then with full bellies we decided to hunt out some of the easier walking routes and see where we fancied going for our first day. Too eager and full bellied as we forgot our usual essentials and as it was so cold on the campsite we definitely had too many layers on.

With just a drive down to the next village we parked up and headed off. It was a lovely walk alongside the river, passing all the sheep and even passing a local pub we've always remembered so fondly. Then without any mention of a steep incline on the directions, the next bit got prrreeettttty shit haha. Stairs! Loose rocky stairs all the way to the top of one of the Lakes peaks. Unprepared was an understatement and had we not been carrying a silly amount of layers and lacking in any food or drink, we would have been fine.

Once we made it to the top of the peak there was a lush walk along the river and waterfalls flowing down from the lake and once we made it to the lake itself it was so peaceful and calm. Dock Tarn has a funny way of making you feel like you're high up in the clouds and not at all at the same time. After a little while we decided to head back down, almost got lost too which was great, but we made it and the views were beautiful. As per.
